Hey Joel!
This video's really timely because I'm in the midst of writing another book and I was looking for ways on how to market it!
1001 Ways sound GREAT!
Plus Robert Cialdini's Persuasion is really Marvellous! I advise anyone reading this to get it because it will revolutionize the way you think about Marketing.

My entire office is reading "Call to Action" by Bryan and Jeffrey Eisenberg. This book is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller about online marketing and has caused an epiphany for several of the staff - highly recommended.
Thanks for your suggestions - I'll be checking them out.

Two books that I can highly recommend, because they encourage creativity and outside of the box thinking, are "Mavericks at Work" by William C Taylor and Polly LaBarre, and The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Some incredibly inspiring thoughts and ideas for the true entrepreneur.

I am currently reading "Never Cold Call Again" by Frank Rumbauskas and I highly reccommend it. It is obvious in this book that cold calling is a waste of time and he explains why that is very well. He also gives excellent alternatives to cold calling, other, much better methods that really work and methods that multiply your sales totals and blow away the competition.

I like "Ready, Fire, Aim" by Michael Masterson. Also, "In Search of Excellence" by Peters and Waters, "No B.S. Direct Marketing" by Dan Kennedy, and "Selling Your Services" by Bob Bly.

Hi Joel,
One book that I've found helpful over the years for me, which often makes me really THINK before I take action so that I know that I'm doing thing the right way to get the leverage I need from my actions was The Art Of War by Sun Tsu, which has been translated in to many languages and rewritten to focus very specifically on business by other authers. Best of all here, following your own format, I purchased this book on Amazon years ago and after watching your video today I went back and researched it again to make sure the book was still available there before posting.
One thing humorous to note here just as a "just in case" for those who tend to look for the easy way out....I am NOT talking about the movie or the book made based on the movie with Wesley Snipes.

Another great read is "Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant" This book uses Cirque de Solei and others to demonstrate how they positioned themselves to take advantge of a blue ocean opportunity and become a grea success.

Hi Joel, thanks SO much for this list. I've been asking around for months to try to get a vibe on some good books to grab.
Thanks oodles!

Besides "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" which is responsible for this incredible journey I find myself on... Andrew Goodman's "Winning Results with Google Adwords" was instrumental for me in harnessing the power of PPC.
Thanks Joel! ;o)

Hi Joel - thanks so much for the great book recommendations! Heading to Amazon to wishlist 'em now! Readers are definitely leaders - I'm always saying that! I think I might add Dave Taylor's Google book to your list, too!
On another note - yes, I am glad you went through your history in the email and I did find it quite interesting! I'm from Dallas myself (live in Alabama now) and I was born in Colorado - still have quite a bit of family all over CO. I cringe with physically painful mountain-envy every time I hear you describe or see your pictures!! My folks are heading up to Pueblo tomorrow (from Dallas) to see my bro - wish I could tag along!

Hi Joel
Thanks for the recommendations. I've read quite a few on the list. One of my favorites is The eMyth which I think is a fantastic read for anyone who runs a virtual business to learn about the importance of building teams and defining roles.
And of course Think & Grow Rich is one that I review every few years.
Thanks Joel!

Hello Joel (from Buenos Aires, AR, where we're currently testing out the location independent lifestyle)!
Great post!
I echo Graeme on Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and all the others who have mentioned Think and Grow Rich.
I would also add "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie and "Permission Marketing" by Seth Godin.
It's beautiful and sunny here! How's it in Colorado?

This is the best use of a quick video I've ever seen.
Real content, matched for your audience, and chocked full of easy to use action items.
I came expecting to add a book to the list, but you covered so much that most will be busy reader for a month.
I'm pointing authors here to show them they too should be talking about books (not just their own) online.

Thanks Joel
The 4 hour work week by Timothy Ferriss did the trick for me.
I love good books and all the books mentioned in the video and posts should all be read.

Thanks again for the video, Joel. There's so much in the way of fluff out there. And, for us newbies, it's nice to have someone experienced take you by the hand and guide you through the mine field.

Hi Joel, great video and I loved The Google Story too.
Also recommended above that I endorse highly are Rich Dad Poor Dad (not very internet based though) and the E-Myth. My top five for internet entrepreneurs are as follows:
1. Striking It Rich.com by Jaclyn Easton (story of 30 odd websites making a million per year that nobody's ever heard of)
2. Love Is The Killer App by Tim Sanders - also talks a lot about reading being crucial for today's leaders and being good to folks
3. Synchronicity: The Inner Path of Leadership by Joseph Jaworski - about creativity, quantum physics, synchronicity and lays out the Three Entrepreneurs Traps: including that of being busy not not productive LOL
4. For business building I loved Rich Dad's Guide To Investment (the last third) which builds on the E-Myth book to help you build an internet business that others will want to buy or invest in
5. And to end up with, consider the One Minute Millionaire - a clever book written to appeal to both right and left sided brain people. Doesn't use the power of the internet enough in my opinion but it's a great story nonetheless.
Enjoy!

"1001 Ways To Market Your Book "sounds like a great complement to Mark Joyner's "Bestseller Blueprint" course and Warren Whitlock's incredible gift of giving to authors.
Some of my favorite entrepreneurial books include some classics - "Think And Grow Rich," "As A Man Thinketh" (yes, it's for entrepreneurs, too!), anything by Dave Lakhani on Persuasion, Cialdini's "Influence," "What They Don't Teach You At Harvard Business School," "Marketing Warfare" by Jack Trout and Al Reiss... and then all the wonderful ones mentioned by others above.
I need David's tips for getting things done, too... It's also a problem with the female "multi-tasker" disease on top of that terrible "p" word - perfectionism. Ouch!
And I agree with Sylvia. This is perhaps the best use of quick video that I've seen - informative, actionable, targeted. Many thanks!

I recently got a lot out of "Thick Face, Black Heart: The Warrior Philosophy for Conquering the Challenges of Business and Life."
On the cover testimonial is says, from Success magazine, "Thick Face, Black Heart could be the Think and Grow Rich of the 21st Century."
It's impacted me highly in putting on a "business face."

They're as good as ordered - I do have 2 at my bedside!
Reading what successful ( as I define) people have read is one sure way to 'pick their brains.' Next best thing to reading their own book or speaking live.
Thank you for this glimpse! I've found E Myth very helpful, among so many others - avid reader.
All the Best,
@JuletteMillien

Good recommendations for business books.I´m always looking for tips to become more effective and get more marketing done everyday. It´s too easy to play games online when you should market your site. Also, I just read an excellent ebook called The Authority Black Book by Jack Humphrey which is the #1 guide to social media marketing.Google it - download it - read it!
