How to Get Motivated to Take Action

One viewer asks "How can we motivate ourselves to take action? I mean, I have all these wonderful ideas, but the problem is there are too many of them. Do you have recommendations for how to pick one idea at first and become very good at it, and then possibly branch out from there?"

This video answers the question. Watch for the bright, shiny object!

Great video... I wonder if my question will be answered!

  2. Michael Kocis Says:

If I may add something Joel,
I learned a technique to find your true motivation.
Once you identify what you think you want, ask "what will this give me?" then once you have that answer, ask again, "what will this get me?"
A woman once identified her motive to be $2000 a month, using that process, she when to not having to work at her job, to a few other things, finally realizing her core motivation was spending time with her grandchildren.
Focusing on that alone did it for her.

    Hey Joel
Great job as usual, some great ideas. Is there some software the could help me set up my ebook. I have some ideas that I want to complete. I have been following you for many years and you are an asset to our industry.

  4. Albert Grande Says:

I say: Have passion, then take action. You are correct it's easier to get motivated when we are passionate about something.
The important thing is to take action.

  5. Misha Says:

Makes perfect sense - and is really hard to implement. For a lot of people, including myself...

But I am slowly getting there... getting there... getting there...

Where was I going?... Umm, never mind :D

  6. Alex Ang Says:

Yes, it's easier when you know what your passion is. Problem is that many people are not sure what their passion is.
Some people have little interests to get passionate about things. Some have too many interests that they get confused.

    Great video! Thank You!
Doing what I love and have a passion for sometimes brings up a lack of confidence in myself. I agree, taking action is what I have to do!

  9. Suzie Cheel Says:

    Thanks Joel,

A good video, as Zig Ziglar says People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.

    Hi Joel
Thanks for the video, I agree with you "do what you love, money will follow". I think we all find a passion, the problem is that most of us get distracted and don't follow with actions.
We live in a culture where we get distracted all the time and the biggest challenge for me is to stay focused.
    Regards.

  11. Success Not By Chance Says:

    Hey Joel,

Your advise and tips had help lots of people. Thank you. For myself, to get motivated, I always remind myself that "Failure Is Just An Event". Everyone had experience failure but don't make it a reason to quit fighting for success. I rather fail and fail and fail till I die than to quit and quit and quit and have to live with it for the rest of my Life.

    Cheers!

It's good, solution for business professional marketing. and thank you for respond. I hope, information not over to close in my mail box.

  13. John Michael Christian Says:

    Hey Joel,
Great video! I've had the same issue with staying on track. For me it was partly due to information overload, and also because I was missing one very important ingredient. I've had my passion identified for a while but I still wasn't moving toward attaining it until I discovered the missing piece.. which was WHY I wanted what I did. Once I found out why I wanted to have the websites and do the work that I've since started doing (self help and inner change primarily) then everything started to fall into place.

Long story short, it is critically important that people first identify their passion.. but if passion alone doesn't provide sufficient motivation to move ahead with their dreams then they need to look at why they want what they do, and knowing that will give them the extra leverage they need to make it happen.
    The best!
    John
BTW.. "Do what you love" is a great book!

  14. Harry Says:

    Hi,

Great video BUT the spelling of the author's name of book mentioned, is wrong it should be Marsha Sinetar not Sinestar.

Well done Joel. Having been an executive recruiter since the early 1990's, I wish I had a dollar for every candidate I have given that advice to.....choose a vocation that makes you want to get out of bed in the morning and strive to succeed....a vocation where sleep almosts gets in the way, because you're that excited about the opportunities that exist around you...I do also advise to do something that benefits the masses, not just yourself, and that way, you should feel even more successful

    Cheers
    Brian
